EEE 5924 Smart Grid Communications
This paper was developed as part of the final project for a graduate-level course on Smart Grid Communication. It explores Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, which are essential to the operation of modern power transmission grids through their support of real-time monitoring and control. Given their critical role in maintaining the stability and efficiency of power systems, SCADA infrastructures have become significant targets for cyberattacks. The paper analyzes the core components and operational functions of modern SCADA systems, with a focused examination of their security vulnerabilities and the strategies employed to protect these vital systems.
